Dancing With Our Heroes
February 9, 2018
House of Heroes CT is partnering with a number of Fred Astaire
and other dance studios to hold a “Dancing with our Heroes” competition
for military veterans and first responders on February 9, 2018
at the Aria Restaurant in Prospect, CT to raise funds for HOHCT!
House of Heroes CT is a non-profit service organization which recognizes
honors and serves military and public safety veterans and their spouses for their faithful
and sacrificial service to our country. HOH does this by providing one-day, no-cost
home improvements to those veteran families who are unable to physically or financially maintain
the homes that they own. More than 900 homes in 20 states by 5 existing chapters have been improved
by “Making a Difference in a Day” since its founding in 2000.
The HOH CT Chapter alone has improved 90 homes since its founding in 2012.
Seven Dance Studios– Fred Astaire Glastonbury, Southbury, Trumbull, and Mystic;
The Garage in New Britain; Dance Fits U in Hamden; Metropolitan Dance Center in Stamford,
have agreed to provide professional instruction-5 free lessons and 5 lessons at a reduced price-
for the 16 veterans and first responders who volunteer to compete.
The Dancing with our Heroes competition has two components- the popular vote,
(website voting and voting at the event), and the judges vote. A panel of three judges
will score the dancers and their instructors similar to what is done on, “Dancing with the Stars.”
At the Dancing with our Heroes event HOH will crown the People’s Favorite, the Judges’ Favorite,
and the combined Overall Winner. Each vote is $1 and is a direct donation to the House of Heroes CT.
Each donor will receive a thank you and a receipt for their tax deductible donation.
